Having started out as money-saving voucher service to encourage people who live, work and visit in East Kilbride to spend their money locally, ek4me now provides and whole range information to help everyone get the best out of the town.
Given the coronavirus pandemic, we have been thinking about how we can help East Kilbride get back to normal after the lockdown ends.
In fact, we want to go beyond normal. We want to see more jobs, better housing, education, health and leisure facilities, and for people to have more opportunities to improve their local area, start their own businesses and generally, get what they want out of East Kilbride.
Most people agree that East Kilbride has lost a lot of its shine. But we can get it back to be a great town where people can enjoy better economic and social prosperity as well as having pride in it.
How about these things for a start:
-
EK Festival of Music, Culture and Leisure
-
Even to showcase EK's great community organisations
-
Food and Drink Week
-
Return of the EK Half Marathon and 10K Run
-
Business, Community and People Awards
-
Shopping Club
-
Shop, business and services directory
ek4me wants to bring people together to make it happen, and this website - along with our social media channels and forthcoming app - will be the place to do so.
We want input from individuals, community groups, businesses, and for them to develop their own projects to benefit themselves and the town.
To make this happen, we're looking for people who want to get involved in running ek4me. We need volunteer admins, advisors, community champions, content creators/writers, social media experts, project managers, ambassadors, etc. etc. If you care about East Kilbride, there's a role for you, whatever your age, experience, skills.
Please have a look at initial website design, give us your feedback here on what you think is good and bad, and what you would like to see going forward. And don't forget to tell us how you would like to be involved.
