It's baffling how a commercial operation can be allowed to re-open - and good for them - but recycling centres have to stay shut while our streets and countryside get swamped with fly-tipping.
And where are the Council leaders and politicians on this?
There's no reason why appropriate measures cannot be put in place to ensure the safety of all concerned.
And apart from the disgusting blight it causes across our town, it is a public health hazard. Coronavirus germs could be on this material and potentially infect people going about their rightful business - how is allowing B&Q to open more important than that?
Please contact your local Councillor(s), MSPs and MP demanding they - and South Lanarkshire Council executive leadership - take action to get recycling centres open in some form or another as soon as possible.
You can view your Councillor's contact details here https://www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk/…/pol…/933/councillors/2, your MP's here lisa.cameron.mp@parliament.uk, your MSP's here Linda.Fabiani.msp@scottish.parliament.uk, and the Council Chief Executive here pach.exec@southlanarkshire.gov.uk
The more people who make the effort to contact their representative, the more it will have an effect.
And you can report flytipping and get it removed at this link https://www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk/…/stree…/344/fly-tipping Stay safe 🙏
